Bound Along our Beaches

The beaches of Oregon’s North Coast are a pup’s paradise: miles of open sand primed for running, splashing, and playing fetch. For people- and dog-watching alike, visit Cannon Beach, with access to beautiful Hug Point at low tide, or Seaside Beach further north. If tranquility is what you’re after, check out quieter Clatsop Spit and Delaura Beach in Warrenton.

Toast the Hair of the Dog

Head to the area’s many Fido-friendly breweries, including The Whet Spot & Seaside Brewing Company both found in Seaside, Public Coast Brewing in Cannon Beach, and Astoria Brewing Company for a pint and bite to eat. Each includes a designated area for dogs, often on their patio or deck, and many offer dog treats too.

Set Your Hiking Pace

Miles of hiking trails await in Ecola State Park and Fort Stevens State Park, with plenty of opportunities for wildlife-watching and views of the ocean. If you’d like to make a night of it, reserve a dog-friendly yurt or cabin at Fort Stevens in advance.

Relax and Refuel

After a full day of exploring, enjoy a hearty meal or locally-made pastry with Fido in tow. Our pup-friendly picks include Sea Level Bakery + Coffee found in Cannon Beach, Maggie’s On the Prom out in Seaside, and Bowpicker Fish and Chips, an Astoria favorite.

Do the Doggy Paddle

Cool off at Youngs River Falls & Swimming Hole, just south of Astoria. The 0.3-mile out-and-back trail is practically paved with paws, making for an easy amble down to the 50-foot waterfall and small pebbled beach.

Take a Stroll in Town

Get your pooch’s tail-a-wagging along Seaside Beach Promenade, a 1.5-mile paved path that runs the length of the beach, or the renowned Astoria Riverwalk, flanked by restaurants, breweries, and museums. The nearby Warrenton Waterfront Trail leads to Carruthers Off-Leash Dog Park, a perfect spot to exercise even the most tireless of dogs.
